The tone is well executed - dark and shocking, which is expected from a war story, but not pointlessly gritty and not wall-to-wall bleakness. It's not heavily romance focused (yet?) but it's warm and even tender when it needs to be. Even though most of the characters are likeable, the story seems unconcerned with presenting them as objectively good people (one of the characters states that they're a Malthusian) which I think is fitting for a game like this. The art is hit or miss but it's never downright ugly. eugen is good boy i love him. Ohhhh I love this game so much! I have found it by browsing different otome-VNs that were suggested by some of my curators, and while most of them were rather unattractive and cheap-looking, I stumbled upon this one. At first I wasn't really impressed, but then I read about all the romantic options, briefly looked at some some reviews (thanks God I wasn't reading the spoilers tho, because when the big plot twist happened I was in such disbelief and awe...) and eventually bought the game. Surprisingly for me, I became more invested with plot and characters than I would with some expensive and professionally drawn VNs! (no shade to the art btw, I just love sprites in this game... CG differ in quality tho but still nice.) I love when games are usually a lot darker than I expect them to be, also it's a rare case when I like all possible love interests ( Helmut is my favorite boi though, he's so gentle and cute). And I'm definitely in love with Elfriede, one of my favorite MCs in otomes. So, this game definitely exceded my expectations (and got me hooked up on WWI, and I can't wait for Act II! Also a funny fact- in the scene where MC is at town square with the background crowd noises, there are some people definitely shouting in Russian o_o I understand why it would be like this, but the immersion was kinda broken haha, but I loved every second of it and was laughing so hard x). i really like this game. there is a lot of dialogue and i enjoyed it. This WW1 setting game is a lot different than traditional Visual Novels. and there is quite a twist at the end. its a nice breath of fresh air from the other games ive VN games ive played in the past. this game focuses a lot about the struggles the main protag has and alot the others around it. its worth a buy.. i really like this game. there is a lot of dialogue and i enjoyed it. I enjoyed the game a lot; it was well researched and had amazing writing, with the art being appealing too. I really wish they had just released the whole game as one though because act 1 is just like a prologue to the real story, and if i remember correctly, is exactly the same as the demo. I played the demo ages ago so not sure why this counts as act 1, like i said, it is like an introduction rather than an actual part of the real story. I really hope act 2 comes out soon as it ends on a cliffahnger and i have waited ages for this to come out.. i really like this game. there is a lot of dialogue and i enjoyed it. This game is really interesting! The story is good, the characters feel real and the main character is charming.I love how the caracters interact with each other, also I love how realistic they feel. You can love them, feel neutral to them, or even find them infuriating. I love it!The story really grips you with the time period it takes place and the feel of being a postwoman during the Great War, having to wait for your childhood friend and the people you grew up with in the same town together from the war, it's very good! And yeah.Although, despite that, I kinda have a little tiny bit of problem that I had to learn the ropes throughout all of the playthrough and the ending kind of irked me a tiny bit... especially when it concerns one of the characters by the end of the game. But I'll still forgive it for the shock and the realism the story played out after that, though. Even though I felt a little cheated from having any choices during that part.Other than that, I love this game. I can't wait for he next part! ^^ Wishlist Act II!: The store page for Because We're Here Act II is now up, meaning it's available to wishlist!
